Definition of Perception

Contrast effect - A contrast effect is the enhancement or diminishment, relative to normal, of a perception and related performance as a result of immediately previous or simultaneous exposure to a stimulus of lesser or greater value in the same dimension. (In this definition a "normal" perception is one free of immediate related context, greater or lesser, more appealing or less appealing.
Tactition - Taction is the sense of pressure perception. This definition is the one that differs the most from the Aristotelian model, as it specifically excludes the perception of pain and temperature (classified separately).
Blindness - Blindness can be defined physiologically as the condition of lacking visual perception. The definition as it applies to people thus legally classified is, however, more complex.
Dyslexia - Dyslexia is said to be a neurological disorder with biochemical and genetic markers. The popular definition for many years was that it is was a disability in which a person's perception is reversed or that a dyslexic sees things backwards and, therefore may read or write backwards.

This study tests this claim in series of experiments with native speakers of Standard Italian in three domains: (i) intuition of consonant cluster divisions, definite article allomorphy (il vs. lo) and (iii) segment duration experiments found that the syllable plays a fundamental role in the production and perception of spoken language.
